Michael “Mike” Carr

Mike, as the namesake founder of Carr Law Firm, focuses his practice on criminal defense and personal injury.

An experienced litigator, he has tried more than 80 jury trials in state and federal court as lead counsel, ranging from complex civil cases to triple homicide capital murder defense. In the evenings, he serves as an adjunct professor at Delta State University; teaching Constitutional law, Criminal Law, Civil Liberties, and The Judicial Process.

In addition to this practice and his teaching duties, Michael is heavily involved in several professional organizations. He currently serves on the Executive Finance Committee for the Mississippi Bar Association, former Mississippi Bar Commissioner for the 11th Circuit, and regularly participates in Wills for Heroes, where he assists first responders with drafting wills and estate planning. He has served as a judge and attorney coach for the Mississippi High School Mock Trial Competition for ten years. 

A regular presenter at the University of Mississippi, Delta State University, and Continuing Legal Education events, Mike has received statewide recognition for his work with Lawyers in Every Classroom, which educates high school and college students on a wide range of topics involving the legal profession. Mike was named Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year in 2014 by the Mississippi Bar, and maintains a top "AV" rating by Martindale Hubbell. He has been named a “Top 100 Lawyer” from 2017 to 2021.

Jessica Massey Carr

Jessica is a native of Olive Branch, MS. She earned her B.B.A. from the University of Mississippi in May of 2009 and her Juris Doctor from Mississippi College School of Law in May of 2012.

During law school, Jessica worked for the Mississippi Office of Indigent Appeals, Hinds County Public Defender’s Office, Mississippi Attorney General's Office - Criminal Appeals Division, and The Law Offices of Vic Carmody. She received a Pro Bono Service distinction upon graduation for her dedication to public service. 

After graduating law school, Jessica spent two years clerking for Circuit Court Judge Lester F. Williamson, Jr. of the Tenth Judicial District. She then worked for four years as a felony public defender in Lauderdale County Circuit Court. 

In the Spring of 2018, Jessica moved back to the Mid-South to be closer to family and opened a law office in her hometown. After running her own law office and practicing law as a private criminal defense attorney and part-time felony public defender in Desoto County Circuit Court for several years, she unwittingly met her husband, Michael “Mike” Carr, while on a statewide Zoom meeting for public defenders at the beginning of the pandemic.  In 2021, Jessica moved to Cleveland, MS and joined Carr Law Firm.

Shortly thereafter, Mike and Jessica rode to Las Vegas on a motorcycle and eloped at The Little White Wedding Chapel.

Over the course of her career, Jessica has represented hundreds of people charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes. She has taken numerous felony cases to trial for a wide range of offenses, including: First Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Kidnapping, Sexual Battery, Statutory Rape, Grand Larceny, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Aggravated Domestic Violence.
